Cost-Effective Winter Skin Care
- Drink plenty of water. Due to the cold, a person may not feel very thirsty in winter, but it is essential not to neglect the body's need for 8-10 glasses of water per day.
- Aloe Vera juice is good for the skin. Drink 1-2 glasses of this juice in a day. Aloe Vera gel can be applied on the face as a good moisturizer too.
- Before moisturizing, it is essential to exfoliate all the dead skin. Make a scrub of olive oil, any other oil of your choice, sea salt, and oats. Apply this on your skin, and massage it gently so that you slowly slough off all the dead skin. Soak in a warm bath or rinse yourself after a few minutes.
- It is important to remember that very hot water dries the skin. So, as tempting it is to get into a steaming bath this winter, use lukewarm water instead, for the sake of your skin.
- After a wash or bath, make sure that you apply a good moisturizer. You can make your own moisturizer out of olive oil and coconut water. Mix these two ingredients thoroughly and then apply it to your skin after your shower. This is a very effective winter skin treatment that will help to moisturize your skin and prevent flaking.
- Usually, we tend to forget the harmful effects of the sun in winter. Keep in mind that the rays of the sun are just as harmful in winter as they are in summer. Make sure you use a good, moisturizing sun screen before getting out of the house.
- Cover your skin as much as possible when facing extreme cold and harsh winds. Use gloves, mufflers, scarves, and jackets.
- Exfoliate the dead skin on your lips. You can mix a little gram flour, honey and sugar together until the sugar crystals have dissolved slightly. You can then gently scrub your lips with this paste in order to get rid of any dead skin. Make sure that you apply a little petroleum jelly to your lips once you have rinsed your lips as this will work as an effective winter moisturizer that will prevent your lips from drying.
- Use moisturizers that are rich in oil or cream rather than water. These help retain the moisture in the skin much longer than water based ones.

Your resource for tracking the swine flu
Sent to you by Pradip via Google Reader:
H1N1 influenza, better known as the swine flu, is guaranteed to make an impact across the U.S. and the rest of the world in the coming months. But knowing what to expect, and how to determine if H1N1 is impacting where you live, should be the first step in your evaluation of the swine flu.
And that's where this roundup comes in. Listed below, you will find several resources that will help you not only track the swine flu, but probably help you learn a little something about it as well.
Find out about that swine flu
Centers for Disease Control -- The Centers for Disease Control has some of the best information on the swine flu of any site in this roundup. Everything from its causes to its symptoms are available.
Information on the swine flu from the CDC is the best I've seen on the Web. The site offers basic information for those who want an overview. It quickly digs deep into treating family members afflicted with swine flu, why a vaccination might be useful, who the flu is most likely to affect, and more. It also produces videos and podcasts. Overall, I liked the CDC's presentation on the swine flu. It's extremely informative.
The Centers for Disease Control is a great resource.
(Credit: Screenshot by Don Reisinger/CNETFluTracker -- Rhiza Lab's FluTracker app is one of the best ways to track the swine flu on the Web.
When you get to the site, you'll see several colored circles around a map of the world. The color of each circle denotes the severity of the outbreak in a given location. Inside those circles are numbers, giving you a tally of confirmed outbreaks in a particular country. Perhaps most importantly, the site allows you to zoom in to see how many outbreaks have affected your area. You can even see how many deaths have occurred. If you're looking for in-depth but easily understandable tracking of the swine flu, FluTracker is your best bet.
FluTracker tells you where the swine flu is.
(Credit: Screenshot by Don Reisinger/CNETGeoCommons Swine Flu Tracker -- Unlike FluTracker, which provides in-depth information on what kind of impact the swine flu is having all over the world, GeoCommons Swine Flu Tracker doesn't quite fit the bill.
I found that the GeoCommons tracker is really only useful if you want to see where H1N1 has hit the world. It shows that information on a Google Maps integration that you can move around, zoom in on, and more. The design of the map is nice, but it needs more information to be as useful as some other services in this roundup.
GeoCommons is a little more basic than other services.
(Credit: Screenshot by Don Reisinger/CNETHealthMap -- HealthMap is one of the most useful apps in this roundup. Not only does it let you track the swine flu, but it also allows you to see where outbreaks of other pandemics are impacting the globe.
When you get to HealthMap, you'll see several different illnesses listed next to the map. At first, the site displays all the sicknesses all over the world. You have the option of choosing to track any number of issues as you go. The site even lets you choose where it gets the incident reports from so you can be sure that only trusted sources are used. I like HealthMap. Try it out.
HealthMap tells you what's happening around the world.
(Credit: Screenshot by Don Reisinger/CNETH1N1 Response Center -- Microsoft's H1N1 Response Center allows visitors to take a swine flu assessment to help them determine whether they have H1N1.
When you get to the site, you'll need to input some basic information, such as your symptoms, your age, and your location. From there, the site asks you if it can share your answers with health officials to help them do a better job of tracking the swine flu. It then provides you with an assessment of whether you have the swine flu. The site also features some basic information on the swine flu to educate you on its impact.

(Credit: Screenshot by Don Reisinger/CNETSwine Flu Tracker -- Another useful tracking tool to use Google Maps, Swine Flu Tracker displays all reported incidents of possible swine flu from confirmed cases to false alarms.
Overall, Swine Flu Tracker is very basic. It features a Google Map with different markers denoting what kind of impact is affecting different areas. You won't find stats like you will in FluTracker. Unfortunately, all the site lists are the numbers of confirmed cases of swine flu in different states around the U.S. Other than that, you're on your own.
Swine Flu Tracker tells you where the outbreaks are.
(Credit: Screenshot by Don Reisinger/CNETWorld Health Organization -- The World Health Organization provides some of the most informative data on the swine flu of any site in this roundup.
The WHO's swine flu page is extremely informative. One of the most useful features on the site is its status-update page. That features the latest information on the spreading of the swine flu around the world. You can also find data on the swine flu's impact. Everything from basic information to treatment is on the site.

Precautions to keep swine flu / H1N1 at bay
Precautions to keep swine flu at bay:
The deadly Swine Flu has reached the Indian shores following the global outbreak and now, claimed one life. However, Swine Flu is certainly one of those diseased where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Here are ten tips for you to keep away from the pandemic.
1. Wash your hands frequently
Use the antibacterial soaps to cleanse your hands. Wash them often, at least 15 seconds and rinse with running water.
2. Get enough sleep
Try to get 8 hours of good sleep every night to keep your immune system in top flu-fighting shape.
3. Drink sufficient water
Drink 8 to10 glasses of water each day to flush toxins from your system and maintain good moisture and mucous production in your sinuses.
4. Boost your immune system
Keeping your body strong, nourished, and ready to fight infection is important in flu prevention. So stick with whole grains, colorful vegetables, and vitamin-rich fruits.
5. Keep informed
The government is taking necessary steps to prevent the pandemic and periodically release guidelines to keep the pandemic away. Please make sure to keep up to date on the information and act in a calm manner.
6. Avoid alcohol
Apart from being a mood depressant, alcohol is an immune suppressant that can actually decrease your resistance to viral infections like swine flu. So stay away from alcoholic drinks so that your immune system may be strong.
7. Be physically active
Moderate exercise can support the immune system by increasing circulation and oxygenating the body. For example brisk walking for 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week will significantly perk up your immunity.
8. Keep away from sick people
Flu virus spreads when particles dispersed into the air through a cough or sneeze reach someone elseĆ¢€™s nose. So if you have to be around someone who is sick, try to stay a few feet away from them and especially, avoid physical contact.
9. Know when to get help
Consult your doctor if you have a cough and fever and follow their instructions, including taking medicine as prescribed.
10. Avoid crowded areas
Try to avoid unnecessary trips outside.

Keep Walking.....
Jus to check this out......
The Organs of your body have their sensory touches at the bottom of your foot, if you massage these points you will find relief from aches and pains as you can see the heart is on the left foot.
Typically they are shown as points and arrows to show which organ it connects to.
It is indeed correct since the nerves connected to these organs terminate here.
This is covered in great details in Acupressure studies or textbooks.
God created our body so well that he thought of even this. He made us walk so that we will always be pressing these pressure points and thus keeping these organs activated at all times.
So, keep walking...

... DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH
It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven a its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese med ical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:
Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, ga str itis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, womb, cancer and men str ual diso rd ers, ear nose and throat diseases.
METHOD OF TREATMENT
1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water .....Interesting
2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minutes
3. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.
4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours
5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.
6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.
The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/reduce main diseases:
1. High Blood Pressure - 30 days
2. Gastric - 10 days
3. Diabetes - 30 days
4. Constipation - 10 days
5. Cancer - 180 days
6. TB - 90 days
7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onward s - daily.
This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.
It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine work in our life.
Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.
This makes sense. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals ..not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain...
For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.
It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.
Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.
A serious note about heart attacks: Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting.
Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.
You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.
Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.
60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.
Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive...
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to everyone they know, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.
